Side business

And after hours,
a studio.

A recent endeavor that merges my AI knowledge with my design and UX eye. I design and build websites for small, upscale businesses: each one gets its own look, built mobile-first, accessible and fast.

Wanes Studio homepage: a couple in black formalwear seated by a river, with the studio name across the photo.

Wanes Studio

Wedding & portrait photographer in Washington, DC. A gallery-style site with a hero slideshow, an inquiry link for each service, and local SEO.

How I work with AI

A force multiplier.

It speeds up the work I already understand, so more of my attention goes to the decisions that need judgment.

  1. Right tool for the job.

I work across AI coding assistants, agents and AI app builders (Claude, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot and Lovable among them) and pick whichever fits the task.

  2. Repetitive tasks become skills.

When I catch myself doing the same work twice, I turn it into a reusable skill: the instructions, checklists and scripts an agent needs to do it the same way every time. My whole client-site process, from intake to launch, now runs as one.

  3. Agents for the busywork.

I hand agents scaffolding, refactors and first drafts of tests, then review every diff the way I'd review a teammate's pull request.

  4. Judgment stays with me.

Architecture, accessibility and UX calls are mine. AI-generated code gets the same tests, reviews and accessibility checks as everything else.
